The cricketing landscape of Madhya Pradesh witnessed a historic moment with the grand inauguration of the inaugural Madhya Pradesh Women’s League (MPWL) 2025 in Gwalior on June 19. In a spirited launch ceremony at the iconic Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed pride and optimism, calling the league “a symbol of women’s empowerment” and a platform for young girls to “rise and shine” on the national stage.

The MP Women’s League is structured as a round-robin tournament featuring three regional teams: Bundelkhand Bulls Women, Bhopal Wolves Women, and Chambal Ghariyals Women.
“The launch of the MP Women’s Cricket League 2025 at Gwalior’s Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Stadium is a unique and golden moment in the history of Madhya Pradesh. This tournament will stand as a symbol of women’s empowerment and give our girls a platform to rise and shine. Personally, it brings me immense joy and pride to witness the daughters of our state stepping forward and making a name for themselves across the country through their talent and hard work,” stated Jyotiraditya Scindia.
He added in his tweet, “Now daughters of Madhya Pradesh will display their skills in the field. The launch of the MP Women’s Cricket League 2025 at Gwalior’s Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Stadium is a unique and golden moment in the history of Madhya Pradesh.”
The opening clash between Bundelkhand Bulls Women and Bhopal Wolves Women was full of anticipation and energy. Bundelkhand posted a defendable 109/8 in their allotted overs, with a brilliant spell from Priyanka Koushal, who picked up 4 wickets and emerged as the standout bowler of the match. However, persistent rain halted Bhopal’s chase at 25/1, forcing the match to be abandoned.
While the weather may have intervened, the intent and talent on display were clear indicators that this league is more than symbolic—it’s fiercely competitive and brimming with promise.
Over the course of six action-packed days from June 19 to June 24, the teams will face each other once, with the top two sides progressing to the final. All matches are being hosted at the Gwalior stadium and are broadcast live on JioCinema, FanCode, and Star Sports Network.
