Toss – Won by Sydney Thunder Women and elected to bowl first

1st Innings Summary – What seemed to be the best batting line-up till now, completely surrendered to unfavorable playing conditions and Sydney Thunder bowlers. The strong batting line-up of the top performing team of the tournament found it extremely difficult to stay on crease and score runs. Sydney Sixers were in great trouble as the scoreboard read 33-6 at the end of ninth over with all the biggies back into the pavilion. The seventh wicket partnership between Marizanne Kapp and Lauren Smith helped the team stay on till the 20th over. Two maiden overs were bowled and Rachael Trenaman, the real danger woman today, took two wickets and gave away only 11 runs in her four overs.

2nd Innings Summary – Sydney Thunder lost an early wicket of opener Rachael Priest in 3rd over. But after that, 70-run partnership between Rachael Haynes and Naomi Stalenberg took the match out of Sydney Sixers’ reach. Despite defending a small total, the bowlers didn’t bowl in disciplined manner and gave away ten extra runs. Although, Ellyse Perry used eight bowlers but could not stop batters from reaching the target comfortably in 18th over with eight wickets still in hand.
