Green’s inclusion comes as a replacement for all-rounder Orla Prendergast, who returned to Ireland due to the passing away of her father. Green will be available for the remainder of the first leg fixtures of the One Day Cup, which runs until May 20, and the first four matches of the T20 Blast, commencing on May 30.

The seasoned batter has represented her country 193 times across white-ball formats. She has scored 1,708 ODI runs with two centuries and seven half-centuries and has also scored 1,193 runs in T20Is. Maddy Green also brings a wealth of experience and success with multiple titles with Auckland and Wellington in both T20 and 50-over cricket in New Zealand, and a key role in Brisbane Heat’s 2019-20 WBBL championship.

This will mark Green’s first stint in England’s new-look domestic structure. But she is no stranger to these conditions, as she previously played for Nottinghamshire Women, playing against the likes of Tammy Beaumont as Notts reached the regional final of the T20 Cup.

“I’m really excited to be here,” said Green. “The Blaze have been a strong side for a number of years, so it’s a great chance to join that and play a part. It’s brilliant to be back in Nottingham. It feels like a long time ago now, but it’s been great to see the evolution of women’s cricket in that time. I’m really pleased to be a part of it, and I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running.”

Craig Cumming, head coach of The Blaze, commented on the signing, “We’re delighted to have been able to secure a player of Maddy’s calibre at such short notice.”

Green’s addition in The Blaze is expected to provide a significant boost and aim to strengthen their position in the One Day Cup, where they currently stand second on the table, five points behind Hampshire, and will be valuable during the upcoming T20 Blast fixtures as well.
