Match 3: Sobisco Smashers Malda Women vs Shrachi Rarh Tigers Women
The third fixture of the Bengal Pro T20 League saw Shrachi Rarh Tigers Women open their campaign with a commanding 31-run win over Sobisco Smashers Malda Women.
Opting to bat first, Rarh Tigers were off to a stuttering start with early wickets tumbling as Sanshita Sumit Biswas and Priti Mondal were both dismissed for ducks. However, Brishti Susanta Majhi (21 off 19) steadied the innings briefly before Iti Sarkar played the anchor’s role with a composed 43 off 54 deliveries. Skipper Piyali Ghosh added 14 off 16, but the lower order failed to capitalize, managing only single-digit contributions. The Tigers ended with 108/9 in their 20 overs. Sobisco’s bowling attack looked sharp- Jhumia Khatun led the charge with an economical 2/15, supported well by Mamata Kisku (2/16) and Radhika Kumari (2/17), each striking in quick intervals.
In reply, Sobisco Smashers faltered in the chase from the outset. The top order crumbled under pressure as Sneha Mahato (5) and Aruna Barman (4) failed to get going. Sukanya Parida 18 off 17 and Sushmita Paul 18 off 16 tried to revive the innings, but with no support from the lower order, the side collapsed to 77 all out in just 15.3 overs. Shreya Karar delivered a game-changing spell, taking 3/9 in her full 4 overs, applying relentless pressure. Bidisha Dey chipped in with 2/18, while Shreya Roy contributed with 1/16 to wrap up a clinical bowling performance.
Match 4: Adamas Howrah Warriors Women vs Rashmi Medinipur Wizards Women
A day of strong individual performances continued as Medinipur Wizards Women chased down a tricky target of 134, defeating Adamas Howrah Warriors Women in the fourth match of the Bengal Pro T20 League.
Opting to bat first, Adamas Howrah had a rocky start as their top order faltered, Ankita Chakraborty (1) and Priyanka Prasad (5) were dismissed cheaply. However, skipper Dhara Gujjar played a captain’s knock of the highest quality, smashing a stunning 73 off just 36 deliveries, laced with power and precision. Despite her fireworks, the middle order failed to capitalize, with most batters falling for single digits. Dyuti Paul added a valuable 28, but the lower order offered little resistance, and Howrah finished on 133/9 in 20 overs. With the ball, Preyasee Pandey was the standout with figures of 3/26, ably supported by Protyusha Dey (2/23) and Chandrima Biswas (1/6), who maintained the pressure throughout.
In response, Medinipur built their chase on solid partnerships. Ipsita Mondal provided the ideal start with a fluent 40 off 25, while Arpita Yadav chipped in with 21 off 18. Captain Richa Ghosh contributed a quick 12 before falling, but the middle order held firm. Mamani Roy 23*off 27 and Shivanshi Tiwari 24* off 20 combined calmly to guide the Wizards home in 18.2 overs. Despite Adamas Howrah’s defeat, skipper Dhara Gujjar had a noteworthy outing with the ball as well, returning impressive figures of 2/11 from her 4 overs.
