It’s a wrap from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers as we sign off with the last game of the tournament between Nepal Women and Thailand Women at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok, Thailand. A contest between two Asian heavyweights—both of whom had already qualified for the Global Qualifiers for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Today’s encounter was a one-sided affair as the home team, Thailand, outclassed visitors Nepal in every department.
Thailand Post a Mammoth Total: 158/2 (20)
Batting first, Thailand Women put up a commanding total of 158/2 in 20 overs. Nattaya Boochatham and Nannapat Koncharoenkai led the charge, scoring fluent half-centuries. Boochatham struck at nearly 120, while Koncharoenkai batted with tremendous intent, scoring 50 off just 28 balls at a staggering strike rate of 178.57.
The Nepal bowling unit struggled to contain the Thai batters, with few answers to their aggressive stroke play. The pressure was palpable early in the innings and continued throughout.
Nepal Collapse in the Chase
Chasing 159 was always going to be a tall order, and Nepal’s batting faltered under pressure. Thailand, who were exceptional with the bat, backed it up with a dominant bowling display.
Nepal could only manage 80 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, as the Thai spin duo of Thipatcha Putthawong (3 wickets) and Onnicha Kamchomphu (4 wickets) ran through the batting line-up. Only Kabita Kunwar showed some resistance, top-scoring with 24 runs.
From High to Low for Nepal
After scripting history by defeating UAE Women just a day prior, Nepal faced a harsh reality check against a well-oiled Thailand side. Regardless of today’s result, Nepal still qualify for the Global Qualifiers, but the loss has highlighted areas that will need urgent attention moving forward.
Thailand End Tournament Unbeaten
Thailand Women took full advantage of home conditions and finished the tournament unbeaten—the only team to do so. Their dominance with both bat and ball throughout the campaign has made them strong contenders heading into the Global Qualifiers for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Wicketkeeper-batter Nannapat Koncharoenkai was deservingly awarded Player of the Match for her swashbuckling 50 off 28 deliveries.
